Project Management Officer

We are looking for 3 enthusiastic, diligent, and experienced Project Management Officers to join our growing team. 

Richmond and Wandsworth Councils have invested in a newly established Corporate Project Office which will provide leadership in improving project and programme management across the organisation. The three new Project Management Officers will join an existing flexible and supportive team of 3, to lead on several diverse and fast paced workstreams identifying and supporting best practice and implementing change, as well as directly delivering complex and high-profile projects.

Key responsibilities 

To lead on and project manage a portfolio of high profile and complex projects across the organisation. Responsibilities will include maintaining project documentation, chairing key meetings, overseeing workstreams and actions, preparing presentations and/or project reports, managing project risk and managing resident consultations and stakeholder engagement. 

Support the Head of the Corporate Project Office to review, initiate and implement improvements within project and programme management reporting processes creating efficiencies across Directorates and the organisation. 

To review existing tools, templates and resources and create new ones in line with the improved approach to project and programme management. To maintain these resources and ensure they are fit for purpose. To assist with the roll out of these resources including giving briefings and trainings where necessary. 

To work with the Learning and Development team to establish a learning and development offer which enhances project and programme management capability in the workforce. As well as delivering aspects of this offer as appropriate. 

About you

You’ll need to have some experience of effectively managing and delivering projects and/or programmes as well as an enthusiasm for improving systems and processes. 

You’ll enjoy working on diverse projects, with a variety of clients including Senior Officers, Members and the public, and you will have the skills and confidence to provide them with robust support. 

You will be an excellent communicator, well organised and able to prioritise your own workload to achieve your goals.  

This role will be a hybrid of remote working and attending the council offices where required.
