Regeneration Project Manager
The Role
A senior management role in Wandsworth’s Regeneration Team giving the opportunity to play a leading role in delivering large scale, high profile, complex estate regeneration programmes. This post is focussed on the implementation of a substantial masterplanned regeneration scheme on the iconic Alton Estate in Roehampton, and involves the development of around 1,100 new homes, including new Council homes, and the creation of a new town centre and retail space.
The Project Manager post is to lead on delivering the Alton regeneration scheme. You will work closely with the Council's selected development partner to complete the submission of a masterplan hybrid planning application. Once submitted you monitor its progress to determination and support the development partner to implement the scheme. where required to deliver the scheme you will work with the Regeneration Acquisitions Team to prepare, make and implement CPO proceedings. You will be responsible for communications strategies and for decant and re-housing strategies.
You will also supervise the Alton Regeneration Team Manager and up to 5 regeneration and housing project officers in devising, communicating and delivering the scheme decant and re-housing strategy, on specifying new Council housing to rehouse existing residents in the new development and on developing detailed proposals for new community infrastructure including a library and village square.
The post will play a leading role in a newly expanding regeneration team delivering key Council priorities in promoting successful and innovative estate regeneration with local people. You will also be expected to work with the Assistant Director of Regeneration other senior Council Officers and elected Members to develop Wandsworth’s overall regeneration strategy and as required implement new initiatives to deliver this.
Wandsworth Council is committed to an ambitious programme of new council house building and has allocated substantial funds to delivering this over the next ten years. The estate regeneration strategy forms the major element of this programme and the regeneration team has been set up and is now expanding further to ensure a successful outcome. The Council has agreed masterplans and procured development partners, and is now in a position to deliver.
You will be part of a small team of motivated, pro-active people who are committed to working effectively with local people and in delivering real change and high quality new neighbourhoods.
You will need to have experience and knowledge of the development of public sector housing and a track record of involvement in the successful delivery of complex, large scale estate regeneration or urban mixed use development. You will need to be an experienced manager who is prepared to lead and work at a senior level and on your own initiative.
