The Role

School Science Laboratory Technician - Apprenticeship with training

£14,333 per annum

36 hours per week

Term Time only (plus 10 days extra study)

One day per week release for college study

To start as soon as possible

Apprenticeship training to start in April 2020

The successful candidate will work as part of the Science Department providing support in pre-testing and setting up for practical experiments in the classroom. Preparing and disposing of special compounds, specimens, electronic circuits, reagents, microbiological materials. Previous experience is not essential.

Starting Salary £16,539 full time equivalent; £14,333 pro-rata. Once qualified, salary will be on Scale 4 of NJC pay scale, circa £23,628

The apprenticeship programme is run over 24 months with CSR Scientific Training who are the UK’s leading training provider for laboratory based qualifications at Level 3.  The qualification the apprentice will work towards is a BTEC level 3 in Applied Science and the desired outcome is for a permanent role to be offered following successful completion.

Training will be delivered via weekly online sessions, the apprentice will be expected to attend CSR’s regional training centre in Sutton Coldfield for 2 days once a year. Travel expenses will be covered.

With 950 pupils and a thriving, popular sixth form, the caring Christian community within the school, together with the close-knit team of dedicated and friendly staff have achieved excellent academic success.

Located in the beautiful residential area of Southfields the transport links are excellent.

The nearest underground station is Southfields (District line – zone 3 and less than a 5 minute walk) which is only 5 minutes from Wimbledon station and 16 minutes from Earls Court. The area is also well served by numerous bus connections to Clapham Junction and Richmond.

Whilst candidates must be in sympathy with the aims of a Church of England School a Christian commitment is not essential.
