Schools Financial Adviser

The Role

The London Boroughs of Richmond upon Thames and Wandsworth present a unique opportunity to be part of a team who work together in a ground-breaking shared staffing structure across both boroughs.

The Schools Financial Advisory Service provides advice and support to Headteachers, Bursars and Finance staff in schools on all aspects of Financial Management. We are currently looking for a Financial Adviser to join our team and provide high quality, strategic, financial management advice and support to a group of schools in the Borough. Duties will also include providing a Bursary service to schools requiring cover for short term vacancies or sickness absence.

You must have previous experience of working in this type of role in a school and be willing to work in various locations, initially within the Borough as demand dictates. Knowledge and experience of not only school financial procedures and legislation, but also school personnel, premises and administrative policies is essential.

You will need to demonstrate excellent communication and inter-personal skills, be highly numerate and be able to effectively prioritise and organise your own workload. IT skills in Excel, Word & Outlook are essential, including proven ability to design and interpret complex spread sheets, together with a working knowledge of the SIMS FMS financial package or equivalent.

Attendance at evening Governing Body committee meetings may be required. As a committed team member, you will make a positive contribution to maintaining the high standard and reputation of the service.
