Are you an experienced professional with strong business support knowledge and exceptional minute taking skills?

Wandsworth Safeguarding Children Partnership (WSCP) is jointly led by the Police, Integrated Care Board and the Council. We are responsible for protecting children and young people in Wandsworth from harm, abuse, neglect and exploitation, and promoting their welfare.

As a Senior Business Support Officer, your role will be key within our partnership with lead responsibility for providing efficient and effective clerical and administrative support to the WSCP and its subgroups as required. 

Can you bring your excellent communication skills and work with a wide range of stakeholders, from colleagues to external partners to help us protect children and young people?

About the role

In this unique role, you will be reporting directly to the Safeguarding Partnership Business Manager, with reach across all partner agencies. You will work on behalf of the partnership and Business Manager with a broad range of individual and organisational contacts involved with safeguarding from across the public, private, voluntary and independent sectors. 

This will include contact with elected members, chief officers and heads of service, to support the statutory official functions of the Partnership as per the requirements set out in Working Together to Safeguard Children 2023. You will be also taking minutes of nominated partnership meetings as agreed.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Strong understanding of safeguarding principles and the importance of confidentiality, particularly in relation to children and young people. 
  • Practical experience in providing administrative support within a social care or partnership environment, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities effectively. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and experience with Content Management Systems (CMS) will be essential for maintaining the safeguarding partnership’s website and managing documentation. 
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, and capable of maintaining accurate records and financial systems. 
  • Ability to handle sensitive enquiries with discretion and professionalism, demonstrating a calm and solution-focused approach in all situations. 
  • Ability to engage in professional development, the appraisal processes and your willingness to attend training and contribute to the continuous improvement of services.
