Salary Range: £39471 - £47830 + shift and weekend allowances

Permanent- Fulltime

Location: Sudbury House, 85 Wandsworth High St, London, SW18 4LH

Other essential information: This is night duty only – 23:00 -07:00

Objective of role  

Responsible to the Estate Services Manager (HPO14) for undertaking a range of estate service functions to properties managed by Wandsworth Council. Attends all Borough wide emergencies as and when necessary and you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the estate services officers patrol and response. 

About the role 

Senior estate services officers in Wandsworth Borough, provide an essential role, primarily supervising estate services officers who perform important tasks on and around the council-managed blocks and estates from responding to emergencies, such as burst pipes and lift trappings, to the inspection of repairs and monitoring of cleaning contractors. 

You are responsible for providing an emergency response and be a vital interface between the residents and other internal and external teams, as well as monitoring noise and anti-social nuisance on behalf of environmental services. On occasion, you will be required to transport stray dogs which have been tethered, to holding kennels on behalf of the Animal Welfare Service. 

Due to the nature of this role, you will need to be excellent communicators and be able to perform the role of estate services officer where required. The successful candidate will be expected to be comfortable in a supervisory role and be able to identify training and developmental needs amongst those staff reporting to them, also to be empathetic when dealing with parties contacting the estate services department via telephone or e mail communication. This position can be dynamic, especially during emergency situations and involves lone office-based working at weekends, so a calm, balanced attitude is also a desirable quality

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Basic knowledge of building, plumbing and electrical repairs

An awareness of health and safety issues when supervising others

An understanding and commitment to the Council’s equal opportunities policy and how the role of Estate Services Officer is important within it

Experience interacting with the public, Councillors, and various departments in diverse situations, including those that can be stressful.

To be able to work alone and under own initiative, Ability to cope with and prioritise heavy workloads including IT, Able to evidence supervisory skills. Ability to prepare extensive formal written reports internally and externally.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Full clean drivers licence
