About Us

The Senior Financial Analyst role forms part of the Financial Management Division within the Finance Directorate, at the strategic heart of the two authorities, and comes with potential for career development as we continue to enhance our solid reputation for effective financial management.

Building on a Financial analyst and Management Accounting background, as a Senior Financial Analyst, you will assist the Head of Service in overseeing routine and more complex financial analysis to support medium term financial planning, annual budget reviews, the corporate transformation programme and other change initiatives/projects for the organisation.

We offer flexible working, and we have been operating largely as a distributed team, however some office working days are expected in line with service needs.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • You need to have a good understanding of basic accounting principles and structures.
  • Significant experience in a local authority budgetary control, accounting and financial reporting environment
  • Experience of interpreting complex structures such as accounting standards, legislation, technical guidance and formulae
  • Experience of financial analysis within a local government setting 
  • Experience of local government funding and medium term financial planning
  • CCAB qualified or equivalent or substantial relevant experience
