Senior Information Governance Officer

The Role

Richmond and Wandsworth Councils have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Information Governance Officer with proven experience. As the Senior Information Governance Officer you will play a pivotal role in driving forward our Information Governance compliance and improvement agenda.

Information that needs to be managed effectively, securely and in line with legislative requirements.

This role will report to the Information Governance Manager and Deputy DPO and will work closely with other members of the Information Governance team with responsibility for Records Management, Transparency, Freedom of Information and Subject Access Requests. The role will also involve working with colleagues in the Information Security Team and the Directorate Information Governance Leads.

In this critical role you will be responsible for supporting policy development and fulfilment of the DPO role and responsibilities.

You will act as the first point of contact for information governance enquires both internally and externally and will be kept busy advising on a wide range of information governance issues from data protection, security incidents, information rights casework, consent and lawful use of data, data controller/processor issues, to privacy notices and contract related issues.

You will have experience in providing specialist advice and guidance in relation to Data Protection Impact Assessments and information sharing arrangements.

Working in a challenging but rewarding role, you will be face with a variety of competing priorities that will require a flexible and imaginative approach with excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills. You will be joining a busy but supportive team that is passionate about Information Governance.

This is a fixed term post for two years.

Work Location

The current Covid-19 pandemic means the majority of our staff are working from home, both Councils are supportive of adopting a flexible approach to such working patterns going forward. We are committed to providing a safe and supportive work environment for all staff. If they prefer, staff can work from our Council sites in Richmond or Wandsworth after a risk assessment. Richmond and Wandsworth Councils are committed to flexible working, home working and remote to help people achieve work life balance and find a work environment that helps staff be productive and healthy. As the council offers remote working, applicants further away from London will be considered and if applicable, we will work with the successful post-holder to develop a feasible work pattern.
