Oak Lodge School is a regional residential provision providing education for pupils aged 10 to 19:
- Who are D/deaf
- Who have speech, language and communication needs (SLCN)
The term D/deaf is used throughout education and research to describe students who are Deaf (British Sign Language users) and deaf (who are hard of hearing and tend to communicate more orally.
Phoenix House Residential Service forms an integral part of the school. We provide accommodation for a maximum of seventeen young people aged 11 -19 years.
Phoenix House is looking for a Senior Residential Worker to provide support for students with a wide range of needs and communication methods. The students reside in Phoenix House for 1-4 nights a week and staff are required to undertake limited sleep-in duties to facilitate this.
The role of the Senior Residential Worker will have responsibility to lead and manage students with a wide range of needs, communication methods and with moderately challenging behaviour.
Staff must be able to work shift hours, on rota, as required. A working day currently falls between the hours of 7am – 9am and 1.30pm – 11.00pm, although this requires flexibility due to demands of the role. We are looking for a Senior Residential Worker that has excellent communication skills, a good knowledge of d/Deafness, communication difficulties, challenging behavior (Autistic Spectrum Disorder) and who is flexible and a good team player
