A unique opportunity has arisen for Social Workers to join our new Community Advice and Support Team where you will be working jointly for two high performing London councils operating in an innovative shared staffing arrangement (SSA).
The SSA serves over half a million residents across Richmond and Wandsworth, and we are passionate about developing and transforming services to really connect with the communities we serve. We want to recruit and retain staff who are representative of the residents we serve. 

About the Service:

We are a newly formed team with an opportunity to truly make a difference to the lives of people approaching adult social care for the first time.  Our team is working in innovative new ways to maximise a person’s strengths and exploring preventative support to reduce their reliance on statutory services.
We are looking for someone who shares our values and commitment to improve the lives of our residents with a keen interest to learn and innovate and a commitment to strengths-based practice and prevention.   The Social Worker in the Community Advice and Support Team will be responsible for working in a truly person-centred way offering residents the option to engage with the service in a way that suits them, including on the phone, video or face to face at local talking points. 

The role requires Social Worker’s to:

  • Work creatively with residents and explore all available preventative options, connecting people to local services and communities. 
  • Have good conversations with people to identify strengths and networks, providing a range of preventative services to support independence. 
  • Work closely with voluntary sector partners and communities to operate physical talking points in the borough. 
  • Signpost and give meaningful information and advice including self-management strategies.
  • Lead on more complex cases requiring assessment, development of creative and innovative short-term support and organise provision of urgent care.
  • Complete safeguarding screenings to determine if Section 42 threshold is met and identify immediate safety actions and implements these.  
The Richmond Team is aligned to the existing Localities of Teddington, Twickenham, and Richmond & Barnes. These Localities aligns easily with Richmond PCNs.   The Wandsworth Team is aligned to the Localities of North, South and West Wandsworth which also align to the Wandsworth PCNs. 

This is a busy team with a fast throughput of work, therefore excellent time management skills and the ability to manage your own caseload is essential. We would like to hear from people who are passionate about delivering the best services to our residents.

In return for your skills, knowledge and experience, we can offer you a salary up to £47,082 per annum (subject to experience).
We can also offer you:

  • £3,000 retention bonus (every 2 years’ service)
  • Payment of Social Work England registration fee
  • Performance related salary progression scheme
  • 31 days annual leave plus bank holidays (39 paid days in total)
