Message from Ana Popovici, Executive Director Children’s Services
Wandsworth is not just a place I work; it’s a vibrant community that I deeply love. Here, in the heart of one of the world’s most amazing capitals, we're committed to fostering kindness, compassion, and community spirit in everything we do.
Do you have experience of building partnerships and working effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders?
We are a forward-thinking local authority committed to delivering high-quality services to our community. Our Children's Services directorate plays a crucial role in supporting the well-being and development of children and young people in our area. We are now seeking a dynamic and experienced Strategic Finance Business Partner to join our team and help drive financial performance and strategic decision-making within Children's Services.
Children’s and Family’s needs are ever changing. Your role will be crucial to ensure that our services are adapting and evolving to meet this challenge.
About the role
Relationships are at the heart of how we work and achieve excellence together. You and the entire team must be the epitome of connection, embedded, and working as one with services.
As a Strategic Finance Business Partner for Children’s Services you will be responsible for the finance teams that support all social care, early help, place and partnership budgets (all non-Education and Schools elements of Children’s Services budgets) to provide expertise and high-quality financial advice and reporting to senior stakeholders to allow them to make informed decisions. You must proactively contribute to the achievement of the finance service’s vision, and contribute towards an innovative, high-performance, and continuous improvement culture.
Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- You will be a qualified accountant (CIPFA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with post qualification experience and a proven experience in finance business partnering.
- Experience working as a Finance Business Partner or similar in a Local Authority Children’s Services team is desirable.
- Knowledge of, or an ability to learn, relevant complex legislative frameworks and financial guidance.
- Strong analytical and technical skills with excellent skills in Microsoft Office with the ability to provide constructive challenge and exert influence.
- Experience of designing complex spreadsheets and using them as models for decision making.
- Ability to simplify complex financial issues and present them in a manner that the recipients understand, and in a relevant format with the right level of information.
If you meet the above criteria and have the ability to effectively and proactively organise and prioritise your own and your team’s workload we want to hear from you!
