In Spring 2025, the Council will open the borough’s first Assessment Hub for people who have experienced street homelessness and as a result, an exciting new job opportunity is now available within the Housing and Regeneration Directorate for a Deputy Hub Manager in the Council’s Street Homeless Service.  

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and dynamic individual to support the Hub Manager in the day-to-day management and running the new Service. The successful candidate will also require a strong understanding of the multiple disadvantages this cohort experience in accessing statutory and non-statutory services. 

The new Hub will not only provide local short-term accommodation to people off the street but see all services supporting this cohort co-located under one roof. Our aim over the next 12 months is to drastically change the way that services work with and support people with a lived experience of street homelessness, with an emphasis on collaboration and placing the service user at the centre of decision-making processes.   

You will need to be innovative and flexible with a strong belief in/ experience of effective partnership working, as well as excellent inter-personal skills. 

The role will be based within the Street Homeless Service and line managed by the Street Homeless Hub Manager. However, the successful candidate will be expected to work alongside a variety of professional teams, including the local outreach service, Rough Sleeping Mental Health Team (RAMHP), Drug and Alcohol Service and Social Services, among others.

About the role

The overall job purpose is to support the Assessment Hub Manager with overall responsibility of the day to day management and running of the new Street Homeless Assessment Hub in Wandsworth, serving Richmond and Wandsworth boroughs, including:

  • Managing and coordinating the support for residents. 
  • Ensuring the Hub is a safe and welcoming place for staff to work and clients to reside in.   
  • Ensuring the service meets contract and best practice requirements 
  • Maintaining and building on the network of relationships and voluntary agencies, and how they support the Hub and client group. 

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience 

  • Knowledge and understanding of the housing and support needs of homeless and disadvantaged people and the ability to translate knowledge into good practice.
  • Good understanding of health and safety and fire safety requirements within the relevant context of this role.
  • Experience of working with challenging client behaviour and supporting staff in doing the same.
  • Experience of building constructive working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts to produce positive outcomes.
  • Ability to effectively maintain processes, procedures and information systems to support the work of your team.
