Teaching Assistant – Willow Hearing Support Centre - Wandsworth Hearing Support Service
The Role
Hours: 0.8 FTE (distribution of hours to be discussed at interview)
Working Pattern: Term Time Only (39 weeks)
Contract: Fixed Term depending upon specific student’s continual attendance within the provision
Required: September 2021
Wandsworth Sensory Support Service is a provider of education for children and young people with Sensory Impairment. This is an exciting opportunity to join our highly motivated and skilled team as a Teaching Assistant within the Willow Hearing Support Centre based at Sellincourt Primary School. The Willow currently has fourteen primary aged deaf children who follow a mainstream curriculum with added specialist support from the Hearing Support Centre.
You will be predominantly working with a reception aged child who has a hearing loss as well as multiple and complex needs. The child will require one to one support with daily tasks including self-care, as well as support with audiology and access to the curriculum.
It is crucial that the postholder is calm, patient and able to demonstrate a high level of awareness when caring for children. The postholder will also need to be able to adapt to a busy and ever changing environment as well as engage with the multi-disciplinary team involved in the student’s wider care provision. As part of the Willow team, the postholder will be expected to have a flexible approach and may be deployed by the Teacher in Charge to work with other children in the provision.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who has high expectations, is passionate about transforming young people’s lives and has a desire to develop their career by working with children and young people with sensory impairment.
We can offer you:
- A personalised induction programme
- The opportunity to undertake recognised qualifications
- A positive and supportive team
- A staff wellbeing programme
The Wandsworth Sensory Support Service is a very special place to work and staff wellbeing and career progression are very important to us. In addition to our Staff Wellbeing programme, you will be provided with tailored in-house and external training appropriate to your needs and interests.
