Job title:        Pensions Team Leader – Benefits

Salary:          £40,854 - £49,503 per annum (starting salary dependent on experience)

Hours:           36Hours (Full Time)

Location:       Wandsworth

 

Are you looking for your next opportunity to move into a management role.  This role requires you to be highly motivated and enthusiastic individual ready to join our Pensions Shared Service as a Team Leader in our Benefits Team.  This role based in Wandsworth, runs the administration of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) for five London boroughs: Camden, Merton, Richmond, Waltham Forest and Wandsworth.  

This is very exciting phase for our service as we transform through a programme of expanding our staffing resources, greater use of automation and emphasis on people development.

About the role

Your responsible for checking work, ensuring performance indicators are maintained, advising our customers and improving processes. You will be required to have a good knowledge of the LGPS and the ability to drive continual improvement.  You will be responsible for accurate calculations of payments in to and out of the participating authorities’ pension funds and revenue accounts. 

You will be responsible for preparing reports in relation to the payments of death grants, interviewing relevant beneficiaries and liaising with solicitors and personal representatives as necessary.  Drafts responses to complaints, Internal Dispute Resolution Procedure applications; deals with non-routine enquiries.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Able to communicate complex technical topics with service users at all levels of expertise. 

Able to work flexibly and in response to user demands and service needs. 

Willingness to work towards a professional pensions qualification Able to lead, coach, mentor and develop staff.
