Job Title: Tenancy Support Officer

Grade/ Salary Range- £36,421- £44,139 per annum.

Permanent – Fulltime 

Location – Wandsworth 

Are you an enthusiastic, effective, and committed Tenancy Support Officer who is passionate about the delivery of excellent public sector support services. Join our dedicated professional Tenancy Support team, helping to deliver a first-class service to our residents providing short-term support and assistance to vulnerable Council tenants who have difficulty sustaining their tenancies.

About the Role

You need to be experienced in working with vulnerable people. You should have knowledge of the support services available and be able to keep accurate records of your casework and provide statistics.  You will also be self-motivated and enthusiastic as the position will present daily challenges. If you have experience in areas such as mental health, health, learning disability, drug & alcohol, care leavers and other support services it will be an advantage, although we will support the right person to gain these skills. It is essential however, that you are someone who strives for success, who aligns with our values and who mirrors our desire to develop and deliver the best services possible for our customers.

The Supported Housing Services – has three strands which are: Sheltered Housing comprising of 26 sheltered schemes, in Battersea, Tooting, Putney & Roehampton. Community Development and Tenancy Support Service for vulnerable clients who have difficulty maintaining their tenancy.

About You

You will provide intensive support to tenants offering assistance, advice and advocacy with the aim of enabling tenants to reduce rent arrears, maximise benefits, manage their finances and reduce anti-social behaviour to avoid breaches of Tenancy Conditions. Regular involvement with other support agencies will also be a feature of this role to meet the needs of tenants across the borough.

You should have a positive, flexible and customer-focused working style and have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be well organised with the ability to prioritise your workload and work effectively under pressure, including managing emergency situations should they arise. You will enjoy working in a mutually supportive and collaborative team environment but also have the ability to work well on your own initiative. Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Ability to communicate with tenants who have particular needs or problems.
  • Assess need and formulate Support Plans including risk assessment for individual tenants with the broad aims of promoting independent living and sustaining their tenancy.
  • Skills in dealing with tenants with confidence and discretion.
  • Experience of using IT applications including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to maintain customer relationship management and attend professional meetings as required.
