About us

The Direct Services Organisation is a high performing service and due to increased workload, we are now looking to increase our managerial / trainee positions to help deliver our ongoing contracts.  We are recruiting for the following positions 

Trainee Supervisor (Highways) x1

Trainee Supervisor (Traffic and Street Lighting) x1

We are looking for someone with a positive attitude, who will be able to encourage the team to deliver a quality service for borough residents, both on the ground or in Council properties. 

You will  

The Trainee Supervisor (Highways) reports to the Contract Supervisor (Roads) and carries out appropriate duties to ensure the effective and productive day-to-day operation of tasks carried out on the public highway by the Highways Section.

The Trainee Supervisor (Traffic and Street Lighting) reports to the Contract Supervisor (Traffic and Street Lighting) and carries out appropriate duties to ensure the effective and productive day-to-day operation of tasks carried out on the public highway by the Traffic and Street Lighting Section.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervision of Highways / Traffic and Street Lighting operatives
  • Preparing / programming of works
  • Ordering of materials
  • Collating of timesheets / work sheets / bonus sheets
  • Efficient record keeping and continuous updating
  • Checking of completed jobs, measuring / scheduling ready for invoicing
  • Checking of plant and equipment, allocating to operatives, booking in for repairs and servicing
  • Monitoring and recording of vehicle usage, allocating to operatives, booking in for repairs and servicing
  • To comply with relevant Codes of Practice, including the Code of Conduct and policies concerning data protection and health and safety.
  • To adhere to security controls and requirements as mandated by the SSA’s policies, procedures and local risk assessments to maintain confidentiality, integrity, availability and legal compliance of information and systems.
  • To promote equality, diversity, and inclusion, maintaining an awareness of the equality and diversity protocol/policy and working to create and maintain a safe, supportive and welcoming environment where all people are treated with dignity and their identity and culture are valued and respected.
  • Ensuring all operatives comply with Health and Safety procedures

Additional Information

To be on standby / call out for Winter Service Provision and civil emergency response.

Provide support as required in the day-to-day supervision of Richmond’s depot arrangements, including the assessment of Health and Safety, preparation and implementation of improvement programmes.

These posts will be based in Wandsworth..
