About Us

About us

Richmond and Wandsworth Councils are ambitious for their residents, businesses and communities. But providing the best quality services to the residents of our boroughs in financially difficult times means we have to transform how we work and deliver, innovate at pace, and continually challenge ourselves to do better.

If you are an experienced Project Manager who has a proven track record of delivering complex programmes or projects and you have a good understanding of local government policy development and services, then we want to hear from you.

Working as part of a small team you will lead on delivering a variety of high-profile projects, working across Council Directorates, and contributing to the wider change programme. You will make sure robust project governance is the norm, providing crucial oversight and support in delivery of the key workstreams.

About you

You will provide advice and guidance to senior officers, identifying opportunities for improved collaboration across council teams and key stakeholders.

To be successful takes tenacity; someone who is a “can-do” problem solver, skilled at juggling competing demands.  You will need to be able to question and challenge conventional thinking, with a continual eye on the bigger picture in terms of corporate context and external environment.

If you want to find out more about this exciting opportunity, please contact David Canham, Corporate Programme Manager, in the first instance david.canham@richmondandwandsworth.gov.uk

Duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Undertake project set-up including identifying and agreeing project structure, governance, and reporting requirements.
  • Embedding strong project management principles and practices by initiating, defining priorities and associated outputs, and proactively tracking work programmes and project plans.
  • Identifying, managing, and mitigating risks and issues and/or initiating appropriate corrective action to ensure that project outcomes are delivered.
  • Supporting implementation of new systems, technologies, and approaches, managing stakeholders to ensure targets, timescales and budgets are achieved and the change is successfully embedded.
  • Support the Corporate Programme Manager in driving and delivering cultural and behavioural change within services and across the organisation.
  • Building relationships, actively engaging with internal and external stakeholders, and working collaboratively with managers, service leads and SMEs to achieve agreed objectives.
