The Role

Enable Leisure and Culture is looking for additional Trustees to lead the challenge of shaping the social and leisure programme in Wandsworth, a busy and diverse borough which benefits from proximity to the river Thames and some of London’s most iconic green spaces.

Enable Leisure and Culture is a Charity working in partnership with Wandsworth Borough Council and is contracted to provide a wide range of services for residents which focus on delivering the council’s strategy for health, wellbeing and open spaces.

Do you want to want to be involved in the support and strengthening of local communities through the delivery of leisure and culture services? Are you interested in promoting a healthier and happier lifestyle for residents by helping to provide services to improve health and wellbeing? Do you want to improve, broaden and improve access to local facilities and amenities? Have you worked or are working as a Senior Manager?

If you do, becoming a Trustee of Enable Leisure and Culture could be the role for you. Working as a member of the Board, you will be responsible for setting the strategy of the Charity and overseeing service delivery in Wandsworth. You will be enthusiastic about helping local communities and a keen champion of the services provided by Enable.

You will also have a keen eye for looking to the future of Enable and its plans to expand its range and location of services.

The Board is seeking individuals with proven management experience in two areas:

  1. Public Health, particularly in relation to Health and Wellbeing, mental, physical and social programmes.
  2. Business skills and financial management, particularly in relation to the scaling and development of businesses.

The formal time commitment is four Board meetings a year and to attend the Annual General Meeting (in September). Trustees can also become members of Committees which meet prior to the Board. Additional time may be required to support the work of the Trust on location and at events.

Covid has highlighted the importance of local resources, services and amenities to residents and Enable looks forward to working with Wandsworth to develop and expand the range and quality of the services it is contracted to provide.

If you are interested in becoming a Trustee, please apply today by emailing your CV and a supporting statement to bturner@enablelc.org by Sunday 5 September, midnight.

First stage interviews will take place virtually on week commencing 13 September.
