Waking Night Officer - Oak Lodge School

The Role

Hours: 40 hours per week (39 weeks Term Time Only). To start as soon as possible.
EVENT-LINKED CONTRACT LINKED TO A STUDENT’S PLACEMENT.

Oak Lodge School is a regional residential provision providing education for pupils aged 10 to 19:

• Who are D/deaf
• Who have speech, language and communication needs (SLCN)

The term D/deaf is used throughout education and research to describe students who are Deaf (British Sign Language users) and deaf (who are hard of hearing and tend to communicate more orally.

Phoenix House Residential Service forms an integral part of the school. We provide accommodation for a maximum of fifteen young people aged 11 -19 years.

Phoenix House is looking for a Waking Night Officer to provide overnight support for students with a wide range of needs and communication methods. The students reside in Phoenix House for 1-4 nights a week and this role requires the person to stay awake to support students overnight Monday-Thursday. The Waking Night Officer will also be required to support students with getting up and ready for school including support with breakfast from 7am until 8.30am.

A working day usually falls between the hours of 10.30pm – 8.30am. We are looking for a Waking Night Officer that has excellent communication skills, with a good knowledge of d/Deafness, communication difficulties, challenging behaviour and Autistic Spectrum Disorder.
