Come and make a difference at Albemarle.
We are looking for a warm, skilled and ambitious Year 1 teacher who combines high expectations with a strong understanding of how young children learn. You will join a collaborative team committed to ensuring that every child feels known, included and able to succeed.
Albemarle is a vibrant, inclusive primary school where our 5Rs – Responsible, Respectful, Resourceful, Reflective and Resilient – underpin school life. We value strong relationships, thoughtful teaching, teamwork and a curriculum that is ambitious and accessible for all pupils.
An additional leadership opportunity
For candidates with the appropriate experience, there is the opportunity to take on responsibility as KS1 Phase Leader. This attracts a TLR payment and a fortnightly half-day of leadership release. The role combines leadership, monitoring and coaching: supporting colleagues, modelling strong practice, securing consistency across the phase and helping to drive whole-school priorities.
We are looking for someone who:
- is an effective, reflective classroom practitioner with high expectations for every child;
- understands the importance of strong early reading, phonics, writing and mathematical foundations in KS1;
- creates a calm, purposeful and inclusive classroom where positive relationships and behaviour for learning flourish;
- uses assessment well to adapt teaching and secure progress from pupils’ different starting points;
- is confident in adapting provision for pupils with SEND, EAL and other barriers to learning;
- works collaboratively, communicates well and contributes positively to the wider life of the school;
- is committed to safeguarding, equality and the wellbeing of children.
For the optional KS1 Phase Leader responsibility, we are particularly interested in someone who:
- can model high-quality teaching, inclusion and classroom management;
- can support and coach colleagues with planning, assessment, behaviour and adaptive teaching;
- can use monitoring, pupil outcomes and professional dialogue to identify strengths and areas for development;
- can build consistency across KS1 while maintaining a supportive, solution-focused team culture;
- is ready to work closely with SLT and the SENCo to improve provision and outcomes for all pupils.
What we offer:
- a welcoming, inclusive school with wonderful children and a strong sense of community;
- a supportive and collaborative staff team with a clear commitment to professional development;
- opportunities to develop your practice and take on leadership responsibility;
- for the KS1 Phase Leader role, a TLR payment and protected fortnightly half-day leadership release;
- a leadership team committed to high standards, staff development and manageable, purposeful ways of working.
Visits to the school are warmly encouraged. Please contact the school to arrange a visit or informal conversation about the role.
