Our Children’s Service are looking to recruit a dynamic and enthusiastic Administrative Officer to join our Wandsworth Pupil Service team and help support us in achieving positive outcomes for young people’s educational needs!

What does the team do?

Our team provides a school admissions service to support parents and schools in the Borough.

We process applications for primary school reception places, transfers from primary to secondary school and maintenance of waiting lists among many other things! We are a vibrant and enthusiastic team looking for new people to join us!

What will your role be?

In this role you will undertake, coordinate and be responsible for the day to day administration of school admissions applications.

This administrative position requires accurate and accountable decision making.  You will be responsible for a caseload of schools, maintain accurate vacancy records and making decisions against set criteria.  We will provide you with full training and support to enable you to effectively carry out your work and to develop your skills and abilities to provide the best service to our customers.

Providing accurate procedural advice to parents, schools, headteachers and governors is an essential part of the role and so you will need to be an effective and sensitive communicator, often explaining procedures, some of which are complex and/or detailed. 

To be considered for interview you will:

  • Have experience of working within a local authority, school or academy environment. 
  • The ability of working effectively and accurately in a pressurised and challenging environment, and of organising your work to ensure that multiple section deadlines are met.
  • Have strong IT skills, managing the use of bespoke software and Microsoft applications
  • Practical experience of equal opportunities in the workplace and in public service delivery is essential.
