An experienced and flexible Attendance Outreach Mentor required to work at the Francis Barber Pupil Referral Unit (4 days/wk) and the Victoria Drive Primary PRU (1 day/wk)

Francis Barber and Victoria Drive are the Wandsworth successful secondary and primary PRUs with a team of highly dedicated staff.  We provide education for a wide variety of pupils whom have had difficulty maintaining a mainstream school provision. We have excellent success rates of returning and retaining placements of pupils in special and mainstream schools and post 16 college placements.

Due to additional funding we are delighted to be able to create 1 new post for an Attendance Outreach Mentor to be responsible for developing relationships with pupils and families and bringing pupils who face barriers to education, to our sites and supporting them in accessing their education onsite.   This work would generally be on a 1:1 basis and with small groups. To support youngsters in their reintegration to their settings and full-time education, it would involve working both on and off site with pupils.

The successful candidate will have excellent inter-personal skills and will be able to work flexibly in response to pupil and PRU needs. They will have the ability to diffuse challenging situations and help the pupils understand the barriers they have to learning, encouraging them to put strategies in place which enable them to become successful.

Both Francis Barber and Victoria Drive are excellent PRUs and their Ofsted inspection report reflect their Good and Outstanding gradings.   The person appointed will have experience of inclusion work with challenging pupils. It is very important that when writing their supporting statement applicants clearly identify how they meet the person specification.
