Casual Administrative Officer for the Design and Print service

We are looking for someone to provide administrative support to the Design and Print Service for Wandsworth and Richmond Councils.

The purpose of the role:
The post provides administrative support to the Communications Business Manager, processing graphic design, print and distribution orders from council departments and includes working with graphic designers and print, distribution and photographer suppliers.

The post holder will be employed on a Casual basis with working hours between 4-6 hours per day for at least 2-4 days per week and sometimes more.

Please note due to the nature of this role we cannot guarantee the hours available, but we will agree these with you in advance on a week-by-week basis.  

Who we are:

We provide a graphic design and print service to Wandsworth and Richmond Councils and produce a wide range of publicity and statutory material including civic publications and newsletters, leaflets, banners, flyers, posters and social media graphics.

Our team of Graphic Designers aim to achieve the highest quality and most cost-effective service in accordance with the Councils’ policies and statutory requirements.

You will:

  • Process incoming orders for design and print work from council departments as well as orders for distribution, poster site bookings and photography work.
  • Use our ordering system to price test all orders, provide quotes and assign to the most cost effective supplier.
  • Undertake tasks relating to general administrative and business support to the Communications Business Manager.

About you:

  • You will have Good IT and record keeping skills and be able to multi task.
  • You will be able to work in a fast-paced environment and work to strict deadlines.
  • You will have a keen eye for detail and accuracy and possess good problem-solving skills.
  • You will need to communicate requests and information clearly via telephone, email, computer systems, and written instruction

Additional Information

You will have:

  • Basic keyboard skills, use of Microsoft Office, email & Outlook Calendar and the internet
  • Good communication skills, including the ability to take and give simple messages, to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with a range of people and to take down telephone messages clearly and accurately
  • Good interpersonal skills and proven experience of dealing effectively, politely and diplomatically with people, both face-to-face and on the telephone. 
  • Able to understand & respect the importance of confidentiality, both within & outside the workplace
  • Ability to work flexibly and co-operatively with colleagues in a team, asking for and giving support as needed
