Class Teacher - Head of Department - Paddock School

The Role

Permanent – Full Time

Start Date: Summer Term 2020 or as soon as possible thereafter

Do you have a passion for making a difference to young people’s lives, a commitment to ensuring outstanding pastoral care for pupils and a positive working environment for staff? If so, this could be the role for you.

The Governors and Executive Headteacher of Paddock School are looking to appoint enthusiastic classteachers to work as part of the wider school team.  You will be an outstanding class teacher and enjoy demonstrating your creativity and excellent interpersonal skills in supporting us to work towards our vision – To Nurture, Inspire and Transform Lives.

The successful candidates will maintain, build on and extend established outstanding practice in order to meet each pupil’s individual needs. All staff are provided with bespoke training. The post holder will be accountable to the Head of School.

Paddock School is a growing, outstanding and innovative split site school in Roehampton and Putney for pupils with moderate to severe learning difficulties with autism or severe of complex learning difficulties.  Our thriving community includes a Singing and Signing Choir, a touring theatre group, sports teams and school café open to the local community.  We currently have over 200 pupils on roll with approximately 180 staff. 

We pride ourselves on the warm, nurturing culture of the School and staff share a deep commitment to supporting the individual needs of pupils; every pupil here is known, understood and nurtured.

The successful candidate will also have a proven track record of impacting on outcomes for children and young people with Special Needs, alongside a discerning appreciation of working in a close-knit organisation with a long and well-respected history, candidates will show commitment to school and staff development.

Above all we are seeking to appoint an outstanding teacher, with a proven track record in being able to mentor and coach others. A thorough understanding of how children with a range of needs learn is essential. In addition, a creative approach to delivering learning outcomes and to solving day to day problems, as they arise would be most welcomed. Exemplary inter-personal skills are essential.
