Support the delivery of key contracts, projects and services within culture and leisure across two dynamic London boroughs.

As Contracts & Projects Manager, you’ll play an important role within the Leisure and Contracts team in managing high-value leisure contracts and ambitious projects at an exciting time for the service. Reporting to the Service Manager, you’ll provide support across a portfolio of contracts and projects, ensuring the realisation of benefits for the community, contractual compliance/value for money and continued improvement.
This isn’t just about contract management - it’s about building partnerships, identifying opportunities and delivering value for our communities, in line with the strategic direction of this high-profile service.
About the role
The specific duties and responsibilities for this role are:
- Being responsible for the performance of various leisure service contracts
- Managing specific projects within the service, coordinating with other departments as necessary
- Effective management of financial and contract policies, procedures and practices throughout the service
- Maintaining close liaison with the council’s service leads and contractors to ensure good governance
- Contribute to the implementation of corporate and leisure strategies through quality service delivery
- Maintaining contract records and issuing instructions for works as required
- Supporting the collection, analysis and reporting of service data
- Producing and presenting reports to senior officers and Cabinet Members
- Line management of the Contracts & Projects Officer
- Handling complaints and requests for services
- Supporting the Service Manager with annual reviews and contributing to the continuous improvement of leisure services
About you
- A confident communicator – both in writing and face-to-face
- Proven experience in managing high-value and high-profile contracts
- Someone with excellent IT skills, attention to detail and who embraces continuous improvement
- A collaborative and proactive person with the ability to manage diverse stakeholder relationships including with contractors, voluntary sector and communities/residents
- Passion for culture, leisure and public services – and the role they play in community wellbeing and equity
Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Contract Management: knowledge and application of public service contract management
- Service Delivery: experience of developing an efficient, cost-effective, customer-focused service
- Project Management: Experience of managing capital projects (including budgets) and successfully delivering complex programmes
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills: able to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, and work both independently and collaboratively
- Technical and analytical skills: proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and capable of producing and presenting statistical reports for management
