The Role
Early Years Educator / part-time 30 hours (flexible)

DSL offers an appealing and challenging educational program from Kindergarten to Abitur with a specific emphasis on German language and culture.
We are recruiting a qualified Early Years Educator to start as soon as possible.
You are:
Ideally, English and some German Speaker with experience in teaching bilingual children from 3 years old.
Teaching qualification to NVQ Level 3 in Childcare, BA in Early Years or equivalent, recognized qualifications is required.
This role is for around 30 hours per week across a morning AND afternoons, so you really have to enjoy jumping in and being flexible in supporting various teams.
The Job:
- Supporting the group leader in general classroom duties, including keeping the classroom tidy and restocked (set up classroom, wash paint pots/brushes, tidy craft area/book corner, replace books and games, etc)
- Working within the agreed framework of policies and procedures within the setting/school
- Providing a service that respects children’s development and celebrates diversity in terms of language, culture, ability, race and religion
- Covering Group Leaders during time of absence in monitoring and planning for children’s progress and development
- Keeping required records and documentation on children
- Maintaining children´s portfolios
- Supporting children’s development of the English or German language, including during circle time
- Effective communication with parents
- Accompanying children to the cafeteria (Pre-school only)
- Carrying out any other duties as a ‘Springer’ to ensure the smooth running of the setting, including helping in other groups
- Leading the group with all day-to-day responsibilities in the absence of the Group Leader
- Attending staff meetings, including planning and development meetings
- Working effectively as part of the team
- Attending all out of hours work activities, such as staff events, training, parent evenings, Christmas and summer fairs as required
Some supervision and leadership experience would be a distinctive advantage to your application, as would be some German knowledge.
