Exam Invigilator - Burntwood School

Reporting to: Examinations Officer
Commencing: January 2026

 

We are seeking an Exam Invigilator to join us on our team of casual staff from January 2026. This is position offers £12.50 per hour, variable hours which will be agreed in advance. Interviews may be conducted on a rolling basis and the successful candidate will then join us as soon as possible on an ad-hoc basis.

 

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, an attention to detail, abide by necessary examination regulations and the ability to use their own initiative.  Experience of working in a school environment and some knowledge of the ‘Instructions for the Conduct of Examinations’ produced annually by the JCQ (Joint Council for Qualifications) would be advantageous.

 

The successful candidate will:

 

  • be reliable, flexible and readily available during main examination periods
  • have effective communication skills and good interpersonal skills

work well as part of a team

  • be confident and a reassuring presence to candidates in examination rooms
  • be able to give instructions and manage situations involving different groups of people
  • have basic IT skills (familiar with use of email, mobile phone messaging etc.)
  • seek to achieve competence in the role and a rigorous understanding of the JCQ regulations
