About Us
Western Riverside Waste Authority is responsible for treating the waste and recycling collected by the London Boroughs of Hammersmith & Fulham, Lambeth, Wandsworth and the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. The Authority is at a transitional stage, looking at how it may deliver waste services in the future, reduce carbon, prevent avoidable waste and provide value for money. We have some big decisions to make and we are developing strategies to help us make those decisions as well as managing business as usual though our waste service contract.
About the role
The Performance Information Officer role has a dual function. Working within a small and highly focussed team, you will play an lead role in the delivery of our current performance and contract monitoring work. You will also play a key part in producing analyses to underpin project decisions as part of our Strategies work.
What you will be doing
You will be providing daily data reports and analyses of waste operational data to support monitoring of our current Waste Management contract and you will be supporting the development of a Joint Waste Strategy with our four Councils, and thinking ahead to the need for a procurement strategy for the replacement of the current waste contract in 2032.
This will include:
• the delivery of waste and recycling analysis and modelling projects using a range of analytical tools
• undertaking data analysis and projections to support understanding of waste trends
• undertaking data collection and analysis from publicly available sources
• research and prepare data analysis reports that underpin and support decision-making around the continuation of existing projects and the implementation of new projects
• undertaking environmental assessments to support options analyses and providing data on the environmental impacts and carbon emissions associated with the Authority’s services
• drafting and presenting of reports to enable understanding of key trends and forecasts.
• supporting colleagues in the Education Team to present data to inform and raise awareness of the need for waste prevention eg on the Authority’s website.
About You
You will need to have:
• Good written English and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical information and results in an accessible format
• Experience of using MS Office-based IT including email, MS Word and Excel to an advanced standard.
• Excellent data research, collection and analysis skills, including the ability to work with and manipulate large datasets
• Excellent level of numeracy demonstrated practically
• A methodical and rigorous approach with a high level of attention to detail and ability to produce work of a consistently high standard
• Good organisational and planning skills with ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
• An ability to develop positive effective working relationships with a range of people and
• An ability to work on your own initiative as well as working as a member of a team
Knowledge and experience of waste management is desirable.
