Peripatetic Music Tutor (Percussion – Tuned Orchestral and Kit) - Graveney School
The Role
Friday (4-5½ hours approx)
To starting as soon as possible, we are looking for an outstanding percussionist to take up a day of teaching on a in this vibrant and successful music department. Percussion students at the school are currently taught across three days by a kit specialist, and this is an opportunity for us to expand our programme to cater for the growing number of orchestral percussion requests.
The applicant should be confident in teaching tuned percussion to a high level alongside some drum kit teaching to fill out their timetable. The ability and desire to lead a percussion-based ensemble would be greatly beneficial. The applicant would be joining a team of 22 peripatetic staff, two music administrators, a music technician and three classroom teaching staff.
The school has a strong musical ethos and there is strong uptake at GCSE and A Level and a broad and exciting extra-curricular programme. Timetables and payment are organised by the music administrator and there are 31 weeks of lessons scheduled throughout the academic year.
Applicants will have:
- A Music Degree / Diploma or relevant experience
- Experience of teaching beginner instrumentalists to Grade 8 standard and
- beyond
- Experience of preparing students for examinations
- A desire to work as part of an enthusiastic team and be actively involved in
- the wider musical life of the school
