About Us

Permanent Full time

36 hours per week

All year round (52 Weeks)

Required: March 2026

Responsible to: School Business Manager

Furzedown Primary School is a vibrant, inclusive and community-focused primary school, committed to providing a safe, welcoming and well-maintained environment in which all children can thrive.

We are seeking to appoint a reliable, proactive and skilled Premises and Site Officer to play a key role in the day-to-day operation, safety and development of our school site. This is an important role within the school, working closely with the School Business Manager, Headteacher and wider staff team to ensure that our buildings and grounds support high-quality teaching, learning and community use.

The Premises and Site Officer will take a hands-on, solution-focused approach to site management, maintenance, health and safety and security, and will contribute positively to the wider life and ethos of the school.

The post requires flexibility and, on some agreed days, may involve working a split shift, typically to support early morning opening and later closing of the site. Specific working patterns will be planned in advance and discussed fully at interview, with consideration given to operational needs and work–life balance.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience of site management, caretaking or building maintenance
  • Has a good understanding of health and safety requirements, including fire safety, legionella and site security
  • Is practical, organised and able to work independently using their own initiative
  • Can communicate effectively with staff, contractors and visitors
  • Takes pride in maintaining high standards across the school environment
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

We can offer:

  • A welcoming, inclusive and supportive school community
  • A well-established and respected leadership and staff team
  • A varied and interesting role within a busy, community-focused school
  • Supportive leadership and opportunities for training and development
  • The opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the ongoing development of the school site
