Our Roman Catholic, Salesian school, in the heart of Battersea, strives to ensure that all its young people are given the opportunity and support they need to achieve their best, fulfil their true potential and go out into the world confident and ready to ‘earn their own bread.’

A great opportunity has opened up for an enthusiastic TA to start as soon as possible.

We are looking for someone who is patient and caring to work with children with additional needs both in the mainstream and in the Autistic Spectrum Disorder Unit of St John Bosco Catholic Secondary School.

St John Bosco College sets high expectations for its students. This is a great opportunity to join a dynamic and friendly teaching team. It is also an opportunity for career development as the school offers a regular training programme including access to NVQ qualification for Teaching Assistants.

As a Teaching Assistant within the school you will work under the direction of the SENCO or the ASD Unit Lead Teacher. You will be responsible for undertaking work/care/support programmes which enable access to learning for students.  Work may be carried out in the classroom or outside the main teaching area. You will also contribute to the wider running of the school through the completion of regular duties supervising our students. You will have the ability to work as part of a supportive team as well as the ability to relate well to both children and adults.

Previous experience of supporting secondary aged students with SEN needs would be desirable but is not essential. You must have good literacy and numeracy skills. You must be committed and reliable with excellent communication skills along with a calm, patient and empathetic nature.

An information pack, including a Job Description and Person Specification can be downloaded below. (Please ignore the apply button) or from the school website, www.sjbc.wandsworth.sch.uk.
